I believe wholeheartedly in the creative work of writers, artists, editors, designers, and other human creators. The ideas, imagination, judgment, experience, and individual voice that people bring to creative work should always remain at the forefront.

My own use of AI comes from that position.

 

I see AI as a tool that can support the creative process, not replace the creator. Used well, it can take some of the pressure away from tasks surrounding the work itself — helping with continuity checks, structural review, proofreading, production preparation, organisation, or promotional material — and leave me more time and energy to concentrate on the part I am actually trying to do well: writing.

I use AI-assisted tools as part of my editorial, production, and promotional workflow, but not as a substitute for authorship. The stories, characters, worlds, plots, themes, chapter structures, prose decisions, revisions, and final wording of my books are my own.

I have used AI-assisted tools for structural and continuity review, editorial feedback, proofreading, formatting preparation, and similar production support. I also use AI-generated imagery in some social-media and promotional material.

None of my published book covers are AI-generated. Every cover across my published work has been commissioned through Getcovers.com and produced by human artists, with creative direction and feedback from me.

I do not believe using a tool removes the responsibility of the person using it. I remain responsible for every book I publish, every creative decision I make, and every piece of material I choose to put my name on.

For me, the important questions are not simply whether technology was involved somewhere in the process. They are who created the work, who made the decisions, who takes responsibility for the result, and whether the use of those tools is being represented honestly.

I also understand that readers, reviewers, writers, and artists have different boundaries around AI. I respect those boundaries. This statement exists so that anyone considering reading, reviewing, promoting, or working with me can make that decision with clear information about how I work.

I believe in human creativity first. I also believe tools that allow creators to spend more of their time creating can have real value. Those two positions are not contradictory to me.
