Writing, Recursion… and Robots: A Well-Earned Break

After wrapping up two novellas—Fire & Storm and Pandora Theory—and crossing the halfway mark on Burning through the neXt, I decided today was the perfect moment to do something radical: stop writing.

Just for a day.

Because even in a world of recursion loops and signal fractures, sometimes the best way to recharge is something simple. For me? That’s a strong cup of coffee and a pile of LEGO bricks.

Today’s project wasn’t even a new set—it was one that’s been sitting unopened for nearly a year: the LEGO Icons Transformers Bumblebee set (10338). With my Optimus Prime already standing proud (and probably a little lonely) on the shelf, and Soundwave on the horizon, I knew it was finally Bumblebee’s time to shine.

950 pieces. Five hours. Four cups of coffee. And a lot of fun.

He’s still missing the aftermarket lighting kit I picked up ages ago—but hey, that’s a project for another rainy Sunday.

For now, I’m just grateful for the reminder: creativity isn’t just what we build on the page. Sometimes, it’s what we build at the kitchen table, brick by brick, until something old transforms into something new.

More writing soon. But today? Today was about remembering to pause.
